The full lineup for Lollapalooza 2008 has been set and officially announced. Held August 1-3 in Chicago, the three day festival is one of the largest music events in the world. With a three day pass costing $200 and corporate sponsors like AT&T, Playstation, and Bud-Light, it is also a major money making event.

MTV News quoted Perry Ferrell, who released the official lineup after an "evil mascot" leaked the musical acts. Author James Montgomery said "Chicago Sun-Times music critic (and frequent Farrell adversary) Jim DeRogatis filed a story that spilled the beans on the majority of the Lolla 2008 lineup."

Although most people would say the mega music festivals are a cost effective way to see some big name bands, 19% of respondents to a Buzz Sugar survey said big music festivals aren't worth the expense. Also, as noted by Tony Reimink on Medium Fidelity, music festivals do have some negative consequences.

Some of my favorite bands are performing, including Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Nine Inch Nails, and Rage Against the Machine. Wilco and Kanye West also received top billing.
