Baskin-Robbins is offering a scoop of ice cream for 31 cents today. If I was cynical (or just
paying attention) I'd say this was in response to the marketing cash-cow that is Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day, but the ice-cream makers said the event is not just a promotion, it's also a fundraiser.
The Baskin-Robbins website said “Participating stores will reduce the prices of small ice cream scoops to help honor America's firefighters...At the end of this promotion, Baskin-Robbins will donate $100,000 to...assist the families of fallen firefighters and provides training to current firefighters to prevent deaths in the line of duty.”
Of course, this could all backfire if too many people compare Baskin-Robbin s ice cream unfavorably to Ben & Jerry's.
