Only a few hours remain until Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl XLII (that’s 42) is gracing Arizona with its presence this year. By now I’m guessing everyone is aware the game is between the undefeated New England Patriots, lead by cheater coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, and the New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning.

Well, I can’t predict the victor of the Super Bowl (go Giants!), I do know News Corp. (NYSE: NWS, NWS.A; ASX: NWS, NWSLV) parent company of the FOX network stands to the biggest winner of all. Sunday’s game will be the most-watched U.S. television event of the year, earning the network a record $3 million for a 30 second commercial.

Among this years advertisers; Victoria’s Secret (NYSE: LTD), Susan Gunelius at the MarketingBlurb notes this will be the lingerie retailers first Super Bowl ad in 9 years, Pepsi (NYSE: PEP), and Audi (FRA: NSU), James Raia at Auto Mill says this is the German auto makers first Super Bowl ad since 1991.

I’m dubbing this year’s game the Super Bowl of Records. Besides the undefeated Pats and the ludicrously high cost of advertising, tickets to the event are reselling for prices well above the NFL’s ticket price matrix. StubHub is seeing tickets to Super Bowl 42 fetch $19,446 per ticket. Ms. Gunelius at the MarketingBlurb has this one covered, too.
