The Macworld Conference and Expo 2008 runs from January 14-18 in San Francisco, but today Steve Jobs delivered his keynote address. As always, he delivered on the bombastic hype that’s become as much a company trademark as the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) logo.

Unveiling a new notebook dubbed the “MacBook Air,” Jobs declared it “the world’s thinnest” laptop and “a major feat of engineering.”

InfoWorld notes the MacBook Air is not the “ultraportable pundits had predicted” (love the use of alliteration).

In other news, Jobs announced a movie rental service through iTunes. In anticipation of this Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) announced limitless movie downloads yesterday. Jobs also updated the public about the future of the oft-maligned Apple TV.

Released in 2006, Apple TV was sold as an accessory to Apple computers and tanked. Apple TV 2 has been disconnected from the computer, though users can still sync with their computer if they so choose.

Last, Jobs revealed Time Capsule, a wireless backup system for notebooks and the little sister (brother) to Time Machine, that very popular feature of OS X Leopard that’s featured in those “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” commercials, you know, the one with Mac duplicating himself. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, Leopard rocks.
