
While its competitors had healthy November sales Wal-Mart (WMT) saw its first decline in same-store sales in more than a decade, with December not looking much better.

Depsite attempts to lure in shoppers with more money by adding more upscale clothing, household furnishings and electronics, sales are still dismal and the abrupt departure of Wal-Mart's top marketing exec, Julie Roehm, after only 10 months on the job doesn't bode well either.

According to this Newsweek.com article America's largest retailer has almost reached shopping saturation with most every American living within 25 miles of a Wal-Mart. Stores are starting to compete with each other for sales as well as with their competition such as Target (TGT) and Kohls (KSS).
