
Wal-Mart is banking on Christmas cheer to be a hot trend this season even as other retailers that include Kohl's Corp. (KSS) and Macy's, a division of Federated Department Stores Inc.(FD), increase their Christmas marketing as well.
Religious groups criticized and boycotted merchants after they eliminated or de-emphasized "Christmas" in their advertising. Wal-Mart announced that the use of Christmas over Holiday will be increased by 60 percent.
Not all retailers are following suit expressing a desire to accommodate all the holidays that fall in that time period.
