
General Electric Co. (GE) and PepsiCo Inc. (PEP) are getting creative in their marketing and advertising efforts and are both using, coincidentally, the same creative and media agencies; Omnicom Group Inc.'s (OMC) BBDO Worldwide and OMD to accomplish this goal.![]()
They both have begun experimenting with new media; in GE's case digital video recorders in a campaign called G. E. One Second Theater wherein short films, live-action and animated, are intended to illustrate with humor the idea that problems can be solved with imaginative approaches. The shorts will become available on myspace.com, video.google.com and youtube.com after debuting on cable.
PepsiCo is presenting offbeat commercials online on staysharp.tv and on TV. The commercial spots are actually clips created by consumers, gleaned from Web sites like YouTube and even excerpts from popular TV series that include "Futurama."![]()
Both companies are looking for new ways to reach people in a world where consumers can pick and choose what, where and when they watch different forms of media.
