
Wal-Mart has declined to comment on the deal that would add 100 Chinese supercenters owned by Trust-Mart, a closely held Taiwanese company, to their ranks for $1 billion.
Carrefour lost out in bidding for the Trust-Mart stores and will be left in second place behind Wal-Mart in the race for the most supercenters in China. Wal-Mart's designs on the market in China has been no secret and projects that their dealings there might be as big as its U.S. business in 20 years.
