
A man who stole Lego merchandise from stores in at least five states by placing counterfeit bar code labels over the real labels sold them on Internet sites including eBay Inc. (EBAY).
William A. Swanberg, 41, of Hillsboro, Ore., carried out the scam at check out counters at retail stores such as Target Corp. (TGT), Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) and Toys-R-Us, in Texas, Oregon, California, Arizona and Utah.
After he sold the merchandise on eBay and two other Web sites, he mailed the items to customers in various states receiving payment via PayPal, an Internet electronic funds transfer service used by Internet consumers and merchants.

Certainly nothing is sacred, but I know this toy can be very expensive and an easy mark.
