Ford Motor Co. (F) might be changing their mind on taking up the position of the third corner in the Nissan Motors (NSANF.PK) and Renault (RNSDF.PK) alliance now that General Motors Corporation (GM) has laid it down.
Just recently it was thought that Ford would be interested in the possibility of an alliance with Nissan and Renault but Carlos Ghosn, who heads the duo automakers, may have missed his chance.
Ghosn has made it clear that he wants a North American partner but when negotiations with GM fell apart he found Ford wasn't showing an interest anymore. Ford's chairman, William Clay Ford Jr., actually tried to hire Ghosn as CEO last year and also called him to get next in line if things failed with GM, as reported by this NYTimes.com article.
