
Mr. Gore is a non-executive director of Apple, and is part of a committee investigating how Apple rewarded its leadership. Two others on the committee, former General Motors Corporation (GM) director Jerome York and Google Inc. (GOOG) boss Eric Schmidt, might be facing conflicts of interest.
The investigation covers the period between 1997 and 2002 wherein Apple admits to backdating options given to directors as greater rewards and acknowledges "serious concerns". Mr. York was reportedly involved in granting options and Mr. Schmidt is under scrutiny as former chief of Novell, which is also investigating options.
