Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) will be offering generic prescription drugs for $4 for a 30-day supply in 65 Tampa Bay area stores hoping to expand to the whole state by January.
Generic drugs usually run about $10 to $30, which is much less expensive then their name brand equivalents but can still be prohibitive to those without insurance especially when they are taking more than one prescription at a time.
Wal-Mart will begin the test starting Sept.22 and their ultimate goal is branch out to as many states as possible in the next year.
This might be another attempt at improving their image in the eyes of the public and would include the changes in the health plans offered to their employees as well as the decrease in the premiums for the insurance.

Three cheers for Wal-Mart. And now they've started selling 3 months of those generics for $10. Wow! For my other meds that aren't generic I use the prescription discount card that I found at www.rxdrugcard.com. Low membership fee. Drug prices posted to check before you join.
