Herman Miller Inc. (MLHR), the Michigan-based maker of office furniture, has invested in two factories and a national headquarters in China to support their rapidly growing client base there and throughout Asia.
To ensure efficiency, quality and lead times for the China and Asia markets, they chose Ningbo, a city of more than five million, to manufacture their products. The multi-million dollar expansion coincides with market efforts to grow brand recognition.
Vice President of Asia Operations, Steve Cox, said, "We are confident that our formula of product innovation, solution delivery, operational excellence, and local dealer service will enable us to succeed in this market. Our distribution will flow through a highly trained and professional sales force and dealer community to offer our customers a global capability at a local level."
