
Language-training lessons like ‘JapanesePod101’ are a growing breed and among the most popular podcasts on Apple Computer Inc.'s (AAPL) iTunes service.
According to this Newsweek.com column on iTunes alone there is a broad selection of audio instruction podcasts to choose from that include Spanish, Italian, German, Greek, Korean and English. Podcast instruction works differently than traditional language classes-being more informal, fun and putting more emphasis on practical tips.
“Podcasting brings the teacher to the students. It might sound simple, but this has major business implications,” says Ken Carroll of ‘ChinesePod,’ which is downloaded 120,000 times a week. “One talented teacher can now reach an unlimited audience with practically no distribution costs.”
