Corporate pension plans are slipping away and the country doesn't seem to care, according to this Newsweek article. Younger workers would rather invest in 401 (k)s and at retirment, older workers often reject their plan's offer of a monthly income for life in favor of taking a lump sum to invest themselves.
The choice shouldn't be made lightly against guaranteed lifetime incomes but they do face obstacles even more serious than waning worker interest.
