Northwest Airlines Corp.(NWACQ.PK) flight attendants rejected a wage-cutting contract, setting the stage for a possible strike. The troubled air carrier could see this happening as early as mid-August in response to their announcement to impose its own terms. The union responded by threatening actions that could even include random, unannounced strikes, according to this WashingtonPost.com article.
Northwest already has permission from a bankruptcy judge to impose an earlier tentative agreement rejected by 80 percent of flight attendants in June. It said it was imposing those terms on Monday.
The airline has said any strike would be illegal and they would seek a court order to block one. The latest vote on the new contract was 55 percent against and 45 percent in favor.
